Heirloom Diamond Solitaire Gold Engagement Ring

14kt yellow gold and white gold diamond ring with old European cut 1.05ct diamond, J-K color and S12-I1 clarity, size 5.5. This was my great-grandmother's engagement ring, which she wore when she came to New York from Germany in 1852. She passed down her tight-knit family values, and the ring itself, but not her taste in diamonds: three succeeding generations have kept it in a safe deposit box. We are selling it now to help fund our return to Europe, which we think Hannah Stern would chuckle at but also consider a suitable inheritance.
